Christiana Care Health System, headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware has an exciting career opportunity for a Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) responsible for strategic and operational nursing and allied health leadership in the development, deployment, re-engineering, optimization and integration of clinical information systems to support clinicians and patient care. The CNIO will provide visionary leadership and establish the direction for a comprehensive nursing informatics program in support of interdisciplinary patient-driven care across the healthcare system.
The CNIO is the principal informatics advisor to the Chief Nurse Executive and the senior nursing leadership team. This nursing leader works in close partnership with the Chief Health Information Officer and Chief Medical Information Officers to ensure interprofessional leadership of all clinical IT projects and maintenance of clinical IT systems. The CNIO assists with the identification; evaluation and assessment of new care delivery technology and will determine the impact of integration with existing workflows and systems. The CNIO will lead a clinical informatics team, serve as an expert in data analytics, lead complex projects and have oversight of IT nursing education.
To apply, candidates must have a Master’s degree in Nursing or Management Information Systems. If the Master’s degree is in Management Information Systems, you must have a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. A doctoral degree (Phd/EdD) is preferred. Candidates must also be certified in nursing leadership and/or clinical informatics and have completed formal training and education in Nursing or Clinical Informatics. A minimum of seven years of related informatics experience and five years of clinical experience is required. We’re looking for a nursing leader who has hands on experience managing clinical informatics projects, including implementations, redesign or process work. Recent experience with the Cerner system is desired.
