Responsible for the planning, organization, staffing and direction of the overall operation of the Nursing Services department to ensure the highest degree of quality patient care is in accordance with all laws, regulations and nursing care standards. The nursing staff provides care in the following areas: Medical Clinic, Women's Clinic, Sports Medicine Clinic, Allergy and Immunization Clinic, Triage, Extended Care Area and Central Supply. Make decisions regarding recruitment, hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations within the nursing department. Coordinate with the Medical Director to ensure efficient operation of the clinical areas, including most effective/efficient assignment of staff and suggestions for operational efficiency improvement. Approve continuing education opportunities for nurses and medical assistants, coordinate peer review improvement projects, and initiate nursing policy/procedure updates.
Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in Indiana.
Minimum of eight years nursing practice.
Minimum of five years working in an outpatient clinic setting.
Three years of working in a supervisory role.
Experience with employee recruiting, scheduling and staffing, and management of disciplinary issues.
Thorough knowledge of the scientific principles of general nursing theory and practice and ability to apply them to optimize patient care.
Ability to supervise and schedule nursing staff in a medical facility.
Current CPR certification.
Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
Ability to handle urgent or emergency situations professionally and timely computer experience should include proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Skills include attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent verbal and written communication.
Experience with ambulatory patient care in a student health center.
Knowledge of human resource laws and best practices.
Knowledge of electronic health records systems.
