The Director of Psychiatric Services is responsible for overall clinical and administrative operations and program development for psychiatric services at UMASS Memorial Medical Center. The position works with the hospital’s senior management staff to develop and implement a strategic plan to further develop and provide state of the art mental health and addictions treatment. This is also a key position in the collaboration with other community entities to ensure seamless transition of care and appropriate levels of service for all patients presenting to UMASS Memorial needing psychiatric services. The Director of Psychiatric Services reports to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer of the Medical Center and works in collaboration with Vice Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at UMMMC/UMASS Medical School. The Director is responsible for overall leadership of hospital based psychiatric services; to ensure state of the art evidence based clinical programming across disciplines, for the supervision and support to Nurse Managers and staff, and to develop and manage the operating budget.
A Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, one of which must be in Nursing.
Eight years’ of clinical/administrative experience in psychiatric services, with a minimum of three years in a management position.
Licensed or eligible for RN licensure in MA.
Proven leadership ability to motivate and lead staff.
Experience working in a managed care environment with an understanding of managed care principles and practices.
Experience working with or within complex organizations and in network or system development.
