Forbes Hospital is a 297-bed facility with 15,000 inpatient admissions, 12,000 surgeries, nearly 50,000 emergency department visits annually, and a level II trauma center. Great strides are being made in preparing the organization for Magnet designation with plans to apply in the near future.
The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for all inpatient nursing services, maternal child health, peri-operative services, pharmacy, prehospital care, behavioral health, inpatient rehabilitation, the Cardiovascular Institute and Magnet preparation processes. Forbes Hospital is seeking a relationship focused, metric driven nursing leader to function at the executive level for the organization's patient care services departments and assist in the development of the organization's strategic plan. Reporting to the System CNE, Claire Zangerle, the successful candidate will lead seven (7) direct reports in delivering high quality care to patients. The incumbent will collaborate with the hospital and corporate leadership teams, and the medical staff, to identify, develop and execute clinical care of current and future programs, and ensure continued promotion of nursing practice commiserate with Magnet designation. Additionally, the new CNO will serve as a member of the Chief Nurse Council of Allegheny Health Network collaborating with system level and hospital based nurse executives; creating, executing and refining system and hospital level strategies that address specific initiatives including: quality, safety and value of patient care; the patient experience; service excellence; recruitment and retention; evidence based education, training and competencies; and financial management. The CNO will skillfully participate in, and provide leadership to, network level HN Nurse Executive Committees.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a DNP or other Doctoral Degree strongly preferred, a Master of Science in Nursing required.
Licensure or eligibility within three months of employment for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Minimum of ten (10) years’ progressive leadership experience required preferably at the CNO level; working knowledge of Magnet designation; extensive knowledge and application of nursing and patient care regulations; nursing practice; and healthcare trends.
National ANCC certification highly preferred with attainment within one (1) year of employment required.
