Under general supervision, the RN Director for Emergency Dept. directs the professional nursing and auxiliary staff of a number of patient-care units; plans and directs activities to provide maximum care within the limits of budgetary provisions; participates in guidance, educational and in-service training; directs procurement of supplies and equipment; coordinates services with those of other departments; and engages in research activities to improve nursing services and patient care. The 2324 Nursing Supervisor (Inpatient Services) performs related duties as assigned/required.
Possession of a valid Registered Nurse (RN) License issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing; AND
Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university; AND
Two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) of experience, within the last five (5) years, in a designated nursing supervisory capacity (nurse manager or designated charge nurse) or administrative leadership/support role in a Medical-Surgical, Critical Care, Peri operative, Emergency, Psychiatry, Perinatal, or similar inpatient unit in an acute care hospital (a hospital which provides 24 hour inpatient care, including the following basic services: Medical, Nursing, Surgical, Anesthesia, Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy and Dietary Services).
Substitution: Three (3) years (equivalent to 6,000 hours) of additional nursing supervisory experience beyond the required may substitute for the education requirement.
