The Department of Emergency Medicine at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine, founded in 1996, includes academic programs at Montefiore Medical Center, Jacobi Medical Center, Beth Israel Medical Center and the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. The department is highly committed to education of both medical students and Emergency Medicine residents, and to answering clinically relevant questions through a focus on translational research.
The Director of Emergency Services reports to a nationally known and recognized leader, Linda Spivak, PhD, MSN, RN who is the senior nursing executive for the Einstein Campus. The Director is accountable for operations, planning, marketing and the advancement of Emergency Services for 80,000 visits per year with a team of approximately 170 FTEs supported by an Administrative Nurse Manager, 2 Assistant Nurse Managers and Patient Care Coordinators assigned to each shift. In addition there is an Operations Manager responsible for budget and staffing and an Administrative Nurse Manager who oversee facilities, supplies and equipment. Responsibilities include maintaining standards of practice for nursing; achieving the vision, mission, values; implementing strategic operational plans; fostering Leadership Team development and performance: and collaborating effectively with the Vice Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, Deborah White, MD ensuring that all team members work together to ensure all aspects of patient care occur in a safe and timely fashion.
RN License with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, one of which must be in nursing, 5-10 yrs experience in emergency services nursing, 3-5 yrs experience in a leadership role in a complex Emergency Department.
Effectively engages staff in the development of a collaborative interdisciplinary and union environment.
Demonstrated success in achieving key productive and efficiency metrics such as Door to Doc, Door to Discharge and LWOTs and focuses on the integrated delivery system as it relates to capacity and patient throughput.
Skilled in the areas of finance, operations, strategic planning, marketing, human resources and IT.
Commendably influences others and their development, fosters teamwork and possesses initiative and strong customer service skills.

Wander through the Bronx and find parks, gardens, restaurants, bodegas and estates juxtaposed with apartment buildings. Montefiore borders Van Cortlandt Park, the largest inland park in the city with riding stables, cricket, soccer fields, the nation's oldest public golf course and a complete marathon course within its borders. Just a short ride away from Montefiore are Orchard Beach, Yankee Stadium, the Bronx Zoo, the New York Botanical Gardens, and City Island, a small urban fishing village. Less than 30 minutes away is Manhattan with Central Park, Wall Street, Chinatown, Times Square, Greenwich Village, Soho, Fifth Avenue, and the elegant East Side. Nearby Westchester County offers hiking, biking and cross-country trails and a short distance away is the Long Island Sound and its beaches.
