WHAT YOU’LL DO
This position assumes responsibility for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and well-being of all patients in the Surgery Stepdown Unit on a twenty four hour basis; plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the overall clinical nursing practice and administrative activities, including fiscal, material and human resource management. Participates in the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures, maintains open communication with all staff and administrative team to promote improvement in performance, assumes responsibility for the role of administrative supervisor as needed, and provides leadership and support to encourage the optimum development and performance of each staff member.
Provides effective leadership to the Surgery Stepdown Unit.
Conducts financial management.
Conducts resource management.
Participates in activities for professional growth and development.
Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patients served in assigned area.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer, including participation in Interdepartmental and Extracurricular Activities.
WHAT WE SEEK
Required – Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Preferred - Master's degree in Nursing
Required - 3 years clinical nurse experience and 1 year of experience in a hospital environment for position as a manager, supervisor or charge nurse.
Required - Current State of Louisiana RN license, BLS, and ACLS.
PALS required if employed in area that treats pediatric population.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of nursing practice and exceptional leadership skills
Good organizational skills
Good time management skills and self directed
Strong leadership skills
