BWH is seeking an experienced nursing leader to serve as EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WOMEN’S & NEWBORN’S HEALTH (EDWNH). This position reports directly to Madelyn (Maddy) Pearson, MSN, MA, RN, NEA-BC who was recently appointed Chief Nursing Officer/Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services at BWH. The EDWNH will work collaboratively with Dr. Terrie Eleanor Inder, Chair of the Department of Pediatric Newborn Medicine and Dr. Robert Barbieri, Chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology. The Executive Director is responsible for clinical practice, personnel management and financial performance within the Center for Women and Newborns.
The Connors Center for Women's Health is world-renowned for the quality of the obstetrical and neonatal care and dedicated to the most comprehensive state-of-the-art obstetrical services. Responsibilities include: antepartum; labor & deliver; midwifery; postpartum; Level III NICU, special care nursery; lactation support; and family planning. The Center provides care to mothers and families for 7,800 births annually. The new, single room state-of-the-art Level III NICU, the largest in Massachusetts, provides care for nearly 3,000 premature and seriously ill babies and their families each year. The BWH team collaborates with maternal-fetal medicine specialists and pediatricians at Children’s Hospital Boston to provide the best, most advanced care possible.
A Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree is required one of which must be in Nursing; a Doctorate preferred.
Ten years of clinical and 3-5 years nursing administrative experience required and academic medical center experience preferred.
Contemporary leadership expertise, knowledge of emerging models of nursing care, and evidence of ability to improve nursing practice, safety, quality and patient satisfaction/outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to develop effective nursing leaders, to mentor and coach others, and to delegate appropriately to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Ability to establish strong collaborative relationships with physician leaders and other disciplines.
Proven ability to lead research and translate the current literature to evidence based practice.
