The Associate Dean of Nursing provides innovative and visionary leadership, creates a dynamic work and learning environment, and articulates a vision and strategic plan for the School of Nursing (SON). At this transformational time for nursing education in Maine, the Associate Dean will provide leadership in nursing within the school, the University and the state.
The position offers a unique opportunity for a proven nurse leader to advance and champion excellence and innovation in nursing education in Maine. The School of Nursing, housed within the College of Science, Technology and Health, offers traditional and accelerated baccalaureate programs on two campuses, a collaborative on-line RN-BS program, and traditional and second degree master’s and on-line doctoral (DNP) programs. We have 375-425 enrolled undergraduate and over 100 full and part-time graduate students, and an experienced and devoted faculty and staff. Our teaching facilities include a state-of-the-art simulation center on the Portland campus and newly renovated health assessment and fundamentals labs on the Lewiston campus. The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in nursing or a related field, a Master of Science degree in nursing, prior experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and administering nursing education. Knowledge and experience of best practices in curriculum development, evaluation and teaching are required. A strong record of scholarship and grant writing and experience in Inter-Professional Education (IPE) in the healthcare fields are desirable.
