University of Maryland Capital Region Health (UMCRH) in Cheverly, Maryland (45 minutes southwest of Baltimore) is currently seeking a Chief Nursing Officer for its flagship facility, UM Prince George’s Hospital Center. UMCRH is the legacy Dimensions Healthcare System, which officially became a part of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) in the summer of 2017.
UMCRH includes the flagship Prince George’s Hospital Center (300 beds), Laurel Regional Hospital (106 beds), and Bowie Health Center (a free-standing ED). Additional UMCRH services include short and long-term rehabilitation, senior living, family health and wellness centers, ambulatory surgery, and medical office space.
With the transition and integration of UMCRH into the University of Maryland Health System comes a significant revitalization of clinical programs and high-quality care to the residents of Prince George’s County and the Southern Maryland region. Of great significance is the current plan to develop a new, modern $550 million UM Prince George’s Hospital Center replacement facility. Construction will begin in late 2017 and is scheduled to open in 2021. It will be the first teaching hospital in Southern Maryland.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a progressive nurse leader to join a transformative team, and to be a part of the eventual transition to a new replacement facility. UM Prince George’s Hospital Center is the centerpiece of system, and this individual will play a highly visible and critical role in shaping and ensuring the delivery of high quality patient care to the patients of UMCRH. The CNO reports to local UMCRH leadership, and will also interact and have access to the CNE of the University of Maryland Medical System. As UMRCH continues to evolve, this individual will be well positioned for ongoing career growth opportunities.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced, energetic and engaging nurse leader, preferably with 10+ years of progressive nursing leadership in an environment of relevant size, scale and complexity. Prior CNO/ACNO/VP level experience in a union environment is strongly preferred.
