Kirby Bates Associates is honored to be working with Albany Medical Centerto identify an experienced contemporary nursing leader for the role of Assistant Vice President (AVP), Perioperative and Procedural Services.
Albany Medical Center (AMC) is a 734-bed tertiary/quaternary referral center and northeastern New York’s only academic health sciences center. AMC offers the widest range of medical and surgical services in the region. The Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at AMC includes a new state of the art 60 bed Level IV NICU. Albany Medical College, which is committed to training the next generation of doctors, scientists and other healthcare professionals, includes a biomedical research enterprise and the region’s largest physician practice with more than 450 doctors. AMC provides the community with the highest level of patient care across disciplines, while receiving regional, national and international recognition for high standards in patient care, education and biomedical research.
The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Perioperative and Procedural Services coordinates, plans, directs, implements and manages the administrative, financial and operational responsibilities for Perioperative and Procedural Services. S/he provides direction and support to department-based leadership, and collaborates with other service and department leaders toward attainment of short- and long-term goals and objectives. As a member of the nursing executive management team, the AVP participates in the efficient and effective management of the department of nursing, and the development of its strategic plan. The AVP is responsible for direct patient care and clinical operations for the following areas:
Ambulatory Surgery Unit (Main Campus) with 24 bays as an outpatient surgical unit which consists of five post-op stations, and one central nursing station. The average case load is 15 - 20 patients per day. Phase II recovery area caring for all patients returning to home the day of surgery.
Operating Room (Main Campus), with 35 state-of-the-art operating suites with the most advanced robotic technology and specialty rooms for cardiac, neurology, urology, vascular and pediatric patients. A Hybrid operating suite combines minimally invasive and interventional surgical techniques, and includes 3D and rotational CT imaging and 2 room intraoperative CT suites for highly complex procedures spine and brain surgery.
Pre -Operative Care Units (POCU) - (Main Campus) has 31 pre-operative bays, 9 of which are for the Pediatric Surgical patients and one negative flow room for isolation.
Post Anesthesia Care Units (PACU)-Main Campus has two PACU's with a total of 53 available beds (43 adult and 10 pediatric beds) for recovery after surgery.
The AVP will report directly to the Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.
A Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, one of which must be in Nursing.
Prior leadership experience in an AMC or complex teaching environment.
Seven to ten years of experience in nursing, in perioperative and or procedural services.
Ability to lead change, engage others, and develop effective inter-professional teams.
Demonstrated ability to foster a customer focused culture that achieves quality, safety and clinical outcomes.
