Carolinas Medical Center (CMC) is part of the Carolinas HealthCare System, a not-for-profit, self-supporting public organization and the largest healthcare system in North and South Carolina. CMC, the flagship hospital of Carolinas Healthcare System, is a 874 bed Magnet designated Academic Medical Center. CMC is the region’s only Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center, a Transplant Center and has over 7,000 births per year. CMC Mercy is a 196 bed acute care adult hospital and one of the first Planetree hospitals in the nation. CMC Mercy is located 1.3 miles from CMC. Also situated at CMC is the Levine Cancer Institute’s academic and research headquarters, Carolinas Rehabilitation, and Levine Children’s Hospital, the largest children’s hospital from Washington, D.C. to Florida.
Carolinas Medical Center is seeking an experienced Nurse leader to assume the role of Assistant Vice President, Women’s Services (AVP). The AVP is responsible for the strategic oversight and operational performance for the service line and ensures that optimal, quality patient care is provided using resources effectively and efficiently. The AVP reports to the Chief Nurse Executive – Central Division at Carolinas Health System. The AVP, Women’s Services is responsible for High Risk Ante-Partum and Post-Partum with 35 beds, Mother Baby Unit with 36 beds, Labor Birth and Recovery with 20 beds and 4 ORS, and OB Triage with 5 beds. Each unit has a Nurse Manager that reports directly to the AVP, Women’s Services. The Baby-Friendly designated service line is also supported by a service line Nurse educator, CNS, Regulatory RN and a lactation service for both inpatient and outpatient. The AVP is also accountable for the GYN surgery unit at CMC and would be the key clinical leader to facilitate care standards for Women’s Services across the Central Division. The AVP is an essential member of the Nurse Executive team and will be expected to be a transformational leader within a strong shared governance model. The AVP, Women’s Services will participate in strategic planning for the service line with key Nursing, Administrative and Medical Leaders to meet all organizational, service line and Nursing Department goals.
MSN preferred, if undergraduate degree is a BSN a Master’s degree from a health-related program or an MBA is acceptable.
Licensed to practice or eligible to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
Minimum five years in Women’s Health and contemporary knowledge of clinical care.
Minimum two years in Nursing Management/Leadership.
Professional Leadership Certification required (within two years if not currently certified).
