Shriners Hospitals for Children – Salt Lake City is an acute pediatric orthopaedic specialty hospital. We are committed to delivering the highest quality of care to children with a multitude of orthopaedic and neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
We are looking for a Director of Patient Care Services / Nurse Executive. This position reports directly to the Hospital Administrator with a dotted line to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Chief Nursing Officer.
This senior management position requires a wide range of leadership and professional abilities. We are looking for a seasoned nurse executive who is confident, decisive yet flexible, with the knowledge and ability to mentor developing leaders. The candidate of choice will also have a knowledge of shared governance, evidence based practice and a supportive approach to change management.
Administrative authority and responsibility for patient care services, policies and procedures, evidence based nursing standards of patient care, and compliance with the Nurse Practice Act. Maintains sound organizational relationships and shared decision making with the Board of Governors, Senior Administrative Team (Administrator and Chief of Staff), physicians, department managers, and all stakeholders. As a member of the Senior Administrative Team, provides strategic recommendations for patient care services and overall hospital direction.
Develops, implements, and evaluates long and short term goals for nursing as well as for assigned departments; responsible for directing, planning, and facilitating process improvements in patient care in a safe, consistent environment that promotes quality care and optimal patient outcomes within the constraints of available resources.
Qualified candidates must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in Utah and be masters prepared in nursing administration, business administration, public health or another related healthcare field. A minimum of five years nursing management experience is required with preference given to those with experience in Director or Vice President level positions. Knowledge and skill in management of ancillary services within a hospital along with an understanding of pediatric care practices is also preferred.
