NORTH SHORE MEDICAL CENTER (NSMC) is the North Shore’s largest healthcare provider with hospitals, ambulatory care sites and physician offices. The NSMC Heart Center offers fully integrated cardiac evaluation and treatment, including interventional cardiology. Obstetrical services are available through the Birthplace at NSMC Salem Hospital, as well as emergency care and adult psychiatry. The hospital is designated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as both a Primary Stroke Service Hospital and a Level III Trauma Center. NSMC Union Hospital provides high-quality health care to the residents of Lynn and surrounding communities. Adult medical and surgical services include emergency care, day surgery and other procedures. NSMC Union Hospital also offers interventional radiology, comprehensive imaging services, inpatient pediatric and geriatric psychiatry services, cardiac rehabilitation, an infusion clinic, and the Diabetes Management Program.
CHIEF NURSING OFFICER/SENIOR VIcE PRESIDENT, PATIENT CARESERVICES (CNO/SVPPCS). NSMC is looking for a dynamic, collaborative executive to assure the highest quality, compassionate care in a patient-centered environment. Reporting to the President, the CNO will set the vision and strategy for nursing and nursing practice and provide executive leadership in all related operational, quality, budgetary and policy arenas. The CNO/SVPPCS will guide the closing of acute care services at NSMC Union Hospital with the transition to Urgent Care over the next two years. The incumbent must have the ability to raise the bar in safety and quality while maintaining high engagement with staff and physicians. The CNO/SVPPCS will drive metrics and performance standards while meeting the financial targets of the organization. NSMC has recently invested in increasing their nursing staffing ratios. NSMC Salem is constructing a new building which will include a new ED, a 90 bed Psychiatric facility which will serve Pediatric, Adult, and Geriatric patients, and a new 24-bed inpatient unit. New programs are being developed in surgery with the addition of a Hybrid OR. The CNO will be expected to drive active engagement of nursing in managing LOS stay and patient flow, and to create a proper infrastructure with an integrated multidisciplinary team.
Bachelor’s and Master's degrees in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration, or related advanced degree in health-related field. Doctoral degree preferred.
Ten years of nursing leadership experience with a minimum of three years’ experience as a senior nursing leader.
Strong operations leadership experience.
Ability to develop mutual trust and collaboration with colleagues and to engage staff.
Strong financial acumen; understands the business of healthcare. Ability to speak to the resources needed to provide quality patient care and the return on investment.
Ability to develop a strategic plan and direction for Nursing/Patient Care Services.
Knowledge of Virginia Mason Lean preferred.
