The Vice President, Patient Care Services for Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, reporting to the Chief Nurse Executive, is responsible for planning, organizing, evaluating and directing all aspects of the Nursing Services and other designated department functions of the hospital in accordance with, and in support of, the mission, vision and values of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network. In addition to overseeing the nursing and ancillary staff, the VP of Patient Care Services will have responsibility for providing visionary leadership to the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, the Child Life Program, and the Family Resource Center. The VP for MFCH must possess a patient and family-centered care philosophy and is able to operationalize that philosophy in the day to day work and through policy and procedures.
Assures continuous improvement in the quality of service and patient satisfaction provided in concert with the WMCHealth mission, vision, and values.
Provides oversight for the assigned respective patient care services leaders, assuring accountability for the highest quality of nursing and patient care standards.
Responsible for complaint management of patient complaints and investigations to ensure a timely resolution.
Assures all protocols, policies, procedures, and standards of practice are consistent with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Interprets and implements policies, procedures, standards and regulations for staff, patients, medical staff and the general public to create and foster a family-centered care philosophy.
Exerts leadership and direction in assisting staff to make decisions and coordinate the overall activities of the departments.
Directs nursing service performance improvement activities and actively participates in hospital leadership functions and designated committees, task forces, and councils.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective communication system between ancillary staff, nursing, and physicians.
Develops, implements, administers, and manages nursing services budget and expense control.
Mentors, coaches, and supervises direct reports and others within the scope to perform at the highest level of ability.
Demonstrates an inclusive management style that fosters transformation and confidence.
Possession of a valid license and current registration issued by the New York State Education Department as a Registered Professional Nurse and/or a Master’s degree* in nursing, nursing administration, healthcare or business administration and five years of progressively responsible administrative or managerial nursing experience in a hospital or healthcare agency which must have included responsibility for preparing budgets and oversight of quality improvement activities and, certification in nursing administration or a pediatric specialty.
Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network is the children’s hospital for New York’s Hudson Valley region and Fairfield County, Connecticut. This 136-bed advanced pediatrics facility in Valhalla, NY, cares for the region’s most seriously ill and injured children, including those in need of cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, hematology and oncology treatments, organ transplants and other specialty pediatric services.
