The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. We are currently seeking an Education Director for AONE located in our Chicago office.
Since 1967, the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) has provided leadership, professional development, advocacy and research to advance nursing practice and patient care, promote nursing leadership excellence and shape public policy for health care nationwide. AONE is a subsidiary of the American Hospital Association.
The Education Director is responsible for the development, execution and evaluation of designated AONE programs and services with the goal of developing innovative and expert leaders. Ensures that established educational and financial goals and the needs of the membership and broader field are met. Holds primary responsibility and accountability for assigned program performance, including attendee experience profitability targets and outcomes metrics. Identifies and coordinates program faculty. Facilitates and coordinates webinars and other online and face-to-face education programs. In addition, this position supports annual meeting education programming.
Direct and oversee the development and implementation of creative, innovative, engaging programs that address the leadership development needs of target audiences. Identify knowledge and practice gaps for target audience and recommend program modifications and potential new programs.
Oversee internal and external subject matter experts in the creation and development of new curriculum and program content. Identify, equip and coordinate program faculty Serve as content expert when needed, and serve as primary faculty for designated programs. As a nurse planner, incorporate continuing education requirements and documentation, ensuring alignment with provider unit guidelines.
In conjunction with supervisor and other team members, identify creative ways to develop nurse leaders beyond the classroom to meet the AONE mission to equip nurse leaders to have an impact. Work with team to establish education goals that align with the AHA and AONE strategic plans, and the mission and vision of the provider unit.
Identify outcomes metrics, monitor and evaluate results and modify programs to respond to trends.
Manage and oversee all program business activities including the management of resources and faculty related to educational programming as required to achieve the overall strategic and financial goals of AONE.
Act as program manager and facilitator for AONE, including participant selection process and curriculum oversight. Mentor program participants by providing regular communication during the fellowship year and input into participant projects. Maintain alumni database and correspondence, responding to educational needs as they arise. Develop structures to continue engaging fellows’ involvement in AONE following the fellowships to continue leadership development.

Masters degree in Nursing.
7-10 years experience with a minimum 7 years of required experience within nursing with leadership experience.
Minimum of nursing director leadership experience is required.
Experience with nurse education/training and instructional design is required.
Experience developing and implementing programs is required.
Knowledge Requirements: Expert knowledge of nurse leadership education needs. Knowledge of health care finance. Knowledge of develop, implement and evaluate educational programming. Knowledge of budget development.
Technical Requirements: Intermediate computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills are required. Ability to learn new technology is required.
