Beyond your talent for designing and implementing new strategies, you also inspire the enthusiastic participation of others
In order to lead a major institution like ours through times of continual change, one needs a lot more than the ability to come up with solid organizational plans. It requires someone who is exceptionally adept at dealing with professionals who come from different areas of expertise and may resist even the most positive ideas for change because they’re seeing your proposals from their own individual perspectives. And that calls for a leader with your irrepressible grit and fortitude.
Your perseverance, energy and enthusiasm as well as your ability to bring others along, creates an environment where the insights of others are respected, taken into account and often folded into your plan.
That’s the kind of leadership we’re looking for right now in a CNO at SUNY Downstate.
Current unencumbered NYS RN license /registration (or eligibility)
MS in Nursing or related field. Doctorate preferred.
10 years of clinical and administrative experience
Highly effective organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills
Evidence of strong, collaborative physician relations
Solid foundation of strategic planning and hospital finances
Evidence of a strong nursing clinical base
Established record of balancing nursing and patient advocacy with strategic business
Strong written, verbal and technological skills
SUNY Downstate has gone through several iterations, but our original roots trace back to 1860 when our school of medicine was first founded at the Long Island College Hospital. Right from the start the quality of our education, research and patient care has been highly recognized, including a Nobel Prize in Medicine to Dr. Robert Furchgott, a member of our faculty since 1956. And as our capabilities continue to broaden, we need more of the gifted and dedicated professionals to continue offering the most advanced and comprehensive care in Brooklyn.
