Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Needham (BID-Needham) is a 58-bed acute care hospital, which has been affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center since 2000. The close affiliation has facilitated the clinical integration of staff and resources in emergency medicine, hospital medicine, cardiology, radiology, orthopaedics, general surgery, pathology and oncology. The relationship between BID-Needham and BIDMC has resulted in a unique collaboration to bring more advanced cancer care and surgery to Needham through the BID Cancer Center and Surgical Pavilion. Most recently BID Needham opened its new BreastCare Center, equipped with the latest technology and world-class leadership, it is a Center of Excellence. In 2009, BID-Needham opened a new emergency department staffed by Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at BIDMC and a new inpatient unit. BID-Needham has been recognized by several organizations for quality and safety including the American Heart and American Stroke Association for lifesaving stroke care. BID Needham provides world class academic medical center care in a community setting. BID Needham received an “A” grade in The Leapfrog Group’s 2017 Hospital Safety Score. In addition, the hospital ranked in the 96th percentile among regional hospitals for providing a “Culture of safety” for staff and patients and in the 97th percentile for job satisfaction per Press Ganey.
The Director of Surgical Services will be responsible for the Operating Room with six ORS (inclusive of a CYSTO room), PAT, PACU, and Central Sterile. The current Director is retiring after ten years of service. BID Needham performs approximately 4,200 - 4,800 cases annually. Surgical specialties include: General Surgery, Joint Replacement, Breast Surgery, General Orthopedics, Genitourinary, Plastics, Lithotripsy and ENT. The Director will report to Kathy Davidson, Chief Nursing Officer. Kathy has been with BID Needham since 2013. The position is supported by two Clinical Resource Nurses (CRN) including one in the OR, and one in the PACU. The BID Needham went live with Meditech 6.1 on October 1st. The Director will lead the department to accommodate continued growth and to take on new services.
Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, one of which must be in Nursing.
Current or eligible for RN license to practice nursing in MA.
Five (5) years of progressive management experience in Perioperative Services.
Needham, a suburb located just 10 miles west of Boston, is a town of approximately 30,000 residents in Norfolk County, MA. The town is bordered on three sides by the Charles River, offering many outdoor recreational activities such as kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Needham has a vibrant town center and plenty of public green space. Signature community programs include the Needham Night dinner in January, the Spring Street Fair, Fall Harvest Fair and the annual Blue Tree Lighting. The Needham Center and Needham Heights include local shops and restaurants which are readily accessible through public transportation, walking, biking or driving.
