Carolinas HealthCare System, a leading healthcare organization in the Southeast and one of the most comprehensive not-for-profit systems in the country, is conducting a retained executive search for the Chief Nurse Executive (CNE) of the Central Division and Carolinas Medical Center (CMC), based in Charlotte, North Carolina. With over 1000 beds, the Central Division is comprised of three hospitals including CMC, a Magnet-designated facility and the region’s only Level I Trauma center; Levine Children’s Hospital, consistently ranked as one of the top 50 children’s hospitals in the country; and an adult community hospital. CMC is a hub of activity for a number of world-class service lines, including the Levine Cancer Institute, Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute and the Neurosciences Institute.
The Central Division CNE has a staff of 2,500, with a total of 4,000 nurses in the Central Division for whom the CNE will have accountability for nursing practice and the professional environment. The CNE will align the Central Division nursing strategy with the system-level strategy to ensure superior patient care results through implementation of best practices.
The successful candidate will be a transformational nursing leader with chief nurse executive experience gained within a large, complex organization, preferably an academic medical center, a multi-hospital system, or a large community teaching hospital. Magnet hospital experience is ideal. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing with Master degree are required.
