The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Dean, School of Nursing.
UTMB is an organization with a compelling vision for healthcare and an environment that is proudly interprofessional and collegial in its pursuit of educational, clinical and research programs that serve the needs of its community. UTMB Health School of Nursing is well known for its commitment to innovation, the aptitude of its graduates, and its wonderful history of accomplishments. As pioneers in the field of nursing education, UTMB Health School of Nursing was the first school of nursing in the State of Texas and the first in the United States west of the Mississippi. It was the first School of Nursing to educate masters degree prepared nurse practitioners in Texas, and the first to offer on-line graduate nursing education. The SON graduates over 500 students annually and is ranked in the top 5% of the nation for online graduate nursing programs.
The next Dean will have an opportunity to build upon the School's legacy of excellence that is well established at UTMB, while adding distinction to the organization through innovation, service excellence and leadership. S/he will bring the vision for nursing at UTMB and guide the execution of the strategic plan to achieve the SON and organizational mission. The Dean's vision will support the existing high standards and goals for nursing practice and education, motivate the SON to expand collaborative research and to achieve even higher levels of recognition across all missions.
The Dean will exhibit the qualities required to be a successful leader in a complex, matrixed environment, including the ability to promote a strong collaborative culture both within the School and across UTMB Health.
The successful candidate will be a nationally recognized leader with a strong track record of academic excellence and professional accomplishment. S/he will have demonstrated success in leading an academic, clinical and research enterprise with the ability to foster programmatic growth through innovation, collaboration and technology development.
