DIRECTOR OF AMBULATORY CARE NURSING SERVICES

The Contra Costa County Health Services Department, located in Martinez, CA, has an exceptional opportunity for a Director of Ambulatory Care Nursing Services to join our leadership team.
The Director of Ambulatory Care Nursing Services plans and directs ambulatory care nursing services at multiple sites through subordinate supervising personnel; plans, develops and implements quality improvement programs which are consistent with organization’s strategic plan; monitors success/effectiveness of improvement program including measurement of patient satisfaction; participates with senior administrative staff from Hospital and Health Center divisions in the development of strategic plans and goals for the organization, and in ambulatory care nursing; consults with other department staff to provide integration of nursing services with other components of healthcare in the ambulatory care system; selects, assigns and evaluates the performance of subordinate Registered Nurse staff; oversees personnel administration and makes recommendations on classification, discipline, and other personnel actions; represents ambulatory care Registered Nurses at meetings on a variety of subjects and interdisciplinary matters.
Minimum qualifications include a current, valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or CPR certification issued by the American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider); a Master’s degree in nursing, hospital or health care administration, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; and 5 years of full-time experience, or its equivalent, as a Registered Nurse, 2 years of which were in an ambulatory care setting or acute care hospital. Two years of this experience must have been in the capacity of a Charge Nurse, Nurse Supervisor or Nurse Manager.
Substitution: A Bachelor’s degree in one of the fields noted above plus 2 additional years of supervisory experience of the type noted above may be substituted for the Master’s degree.
