The Assistant Patient Care Manager is responsible for the-day-to-day supervision on nursing operations, ensuring quality nursing care to cancer patients and families. Mentors, serves as a resource, and provides support for staff and faculty on clinical nursing issues while meeting the department, nursing and organization goals. Oversees clinical care performed by assigned nursing staff.
Patient Care Management
Coordinates and may implement patient admissions, assigns patients to care areas and approves the transfer of patients.
Allocates nursing staff based on patient acuity, staffing standards and expertise of personnel.
Assists, communicates and documents appropriate adjustment of staffing resources using established guidelines resulting in cost effective quality staffing.
Communicates problems and compliments regarding resource adjustments with Patient Care Managers and/or Directors
Promotes and monitors the orientation, growth, and development of personnel.
Conducts employee evaluations.
Mentors RN staff to develop skills to manage patient cae systematically.
Assists Education Department by teaching appropriate inservices/ classes for staff.
Collaborates with other Assistant PCM's to cover vacation times, holiday schedules or unscheduled absences/sic time.
Attends and participates in scheduled Nursing Administration and Administrative Coordination meetings and participates on a Nursing Division or hospital-wide committee.
Graduate of state accredited nursing program. B.S.N. or an Associates Degree with B.S.N in process to be completed within (2) years of initial enrollment date.
Florida RN License required
Master of Nursing preferred
3 years of RN experience is required
Strong Computer Skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
