Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) seeks an experienced nursing leader to serve as their new System Chief Nurse Executive (CNE). Reporting to the President of Yale New Haven Health System, the System CNE will set the care standard and vision for YNHHS nursing. He/she will be responsible for the overall delivery and management of nursing professional practice, education, professional development, research, administration and clinical services within YNHHS to ensure the highest possible standards of clinical effectiveness, patient and staff satisfaction and cost effectiveness.
In collaboration with the System Chief Medical Officer and System Chief Quality Officer, the System CNE will provide direction and leadership for all aspects of patient care across the entire continuum to ensure integration of services and alignment with the System’s strategic goals and objectives, including the provision of excellent quality services and strengthening of the enterprise as a true full-service, integrated health system. The System CNE will develop, design and implement system-wide transformation to a new integrated patient care delivery system by formulating strategy, tactics and action plans to achieve results.
He/she will have accountability for nearly 6,000 nurses while enhancing a clinical practice environment across both inpatient and ambulatory settings that is patient centered, with unsurpassed clinical quality and patient safety while also providing significant contributions to education and research ensuring practice at the highest scope of licensure. There will be numerous opportunities for collaboration and partnerships around Advanced Practice, Interprofessional Education, and Evidenced Based Practice between the Yale School of Nursing and YNHHS.
The ideal candidate for this role is a dynamic and accomplished healthcare leader who can work effectively in a highly matrixed and relationship-driven culture. The incumbent must be a visionary leader who knows how to effectively drive change in a complex and distributed yet system-oriented environment that is in a period of significant growth and expansion of clinical services across the state of Connecticut. Successful candidates will possess ten years of progressive leadership experience as a proven Chief Nursing Officer within a complex hospital/health system, preferably an academic medical center environment, and have experience with Magnet and other regulatory requirements. A Bachelor’s, Master’s Degrees in Nursing and/or related fields are required; Doctoral degree in Nursing preferred.
