NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue is currently seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Nursing Officer of Nursing and Patient Care Services with a drive for optimal quality and service excellence in all areas of patient care. Our 912-bed state-of-the-art medical center, providing 30,000 inpatient admissions and 500,000 outpatient visits per year, has become a recognized national leader in many fields due to our steadfast dedication and commitment to safe and effective health care for all New Yorkers without exception. We are a Level 1 Trauma Center and a nationally-recognized Center for Special Pathogens. We have more than 300 Adult, Child, and Adolescent Psychiatry beds and maintain state-of-the-art programs in Cardiothoracic Surgery and Neurosurgery.
As a member of the executive cabinet reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CNO is mutually responsible for the provision of high quality and cost-effective patient care with other executive cabinet members. The CNO is accountable for assessing the care delivery system and designing structures and processes within the culture and context of Bellevue Hospital that achieve the goals and outcomes of a patient and family-centered operational model. This senior leader establishes productive working relationships with the medical staff, supports clinical departments, and responds to community needs. The CNO provides leadership to more than 1,800 registered professional nurses and patient care staff by setting and sustaining standards for clinical practice, transmitting patient-centered values and principles, developing and implementing policies, initiating programs and systems, and managing resources. S/he is responsible for the development of competent staff that provides care and service in alignment with clinical and regulatory standards in a manner that is focused on patient and family needs and expectations and is satisfying to the patient, family, and staff.
Qualified candidates must have a proven record of nursing leadership in the attainment of national quality benchmarks, and successful change management initiatives in a tertiary care enterprise with effective fiscal and outcomes management. Candidate accomplishments will include improved quality of patient care, optimal patient and employee engagement survey results, and operational excellence with the broad usage of protocols, research, and evidence- based practices.

The selected candidate must have: A Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university; be licensed and currently registered to practice as a professional registered nurse in New York State; and have six (6) years of full time, high-level responsible experience in Nursing Administration or in a position of direct responsibility for the operations of a major part or all of the Nursing Department; or possess an equivalent combination of training, education and related experience.
Preferred qualifications include: Ten (10) years demonstrating progressively responsible leadership roles in large, complex, integrated healthcare organizations. Additional qualifications include superior interpersonal skills with an ability to articulate a vision and influence others in the support of broad objectives and the accomplishment of strategic goals. The candidate must be able to quickly establish credibility, to foster role model collegiality and respect, and to maintain ongoing trusting relationships with physicians, leaders, staff, and strategic partners. Excellent communication, mentoring, facilitation, multi-disciplinary team building and conflict resolution skills are required.
