We have an outstanding Nurse Educator opportunity for our 22 suite pediatric operating room at Boston Children’s Hospital located at our main campus in Boston. We are seeking a dynamic nurse with strong clinical skills to partner with our leadership team and exceptional nursing staff in meeting our educational needs. The Nurse Educator for the Operating Room will be an important and collaborative member of our team dedicated to advancing perioperative nursing practice through a shared vision of excellence.
The Nurse Educator, Perioperative Services will be responsible for:
Providing expertise through the processes of collaboration, consultation, facilitation and education.
Providing unit education to all staff in the Operating Room; RNs, CSTs, CAs; permanent, part time, travel and per diem.
Support of individual staff as well as educational planning for individuals and groups.
Facilitation of Entry into OR for RNs using AORN Periop 101™.
Assessment of education and collaboration with Leadership to ensure that staff receive patient safety, mandatory competency training, as well as other training related to policies, procedures, regulatory updates and advanced technologies that support perioperative nursing practice.
Assessment of individual and group learning needs, ongoing evaluation of educational efforts and support/facilitation of specialty certification.
Reporting to the Perioperative Professional Development Specialist in Perioperative Services and being an important part of the nursing leadership team.
Providing nursing professional development expertise as an educator, facilitator, mentor, change agent, and leader.
To qualify, you must have:
A BSN is required; an MSN preferred.
Proficiency in the circulating and scrub roles and a minimum of 3 years’ OR experience.
CNOR certification required.
Leadership and pediatric experience as well as project management experience preferred.
Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral, comfort with technologies and advanced skills in clinical pediatric care, education, and evidence based practice tools and techniques.
The ability to be flexible, to innovate, and display enthusiasm and passion for the role.
