Christiana Care Health System, a twice-designated Magnet organization headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware is searching for a transformational nursing executive for the position of Vice President Emergency Services. This senior nursing leader is responsible for the delivery of safe, high quality, patient centric clinical care in Christiana Care’s three Emergency Departments located in Delaware.
Provides transformational leadership for the Emergency Rooms and Acute Care Service Line by collaborating with physician, nursing and operations leaders to advance the strategic aims and vision of the Service Line and develop initiatives to support clinical transformation and promote value based care.
Leads strategic planning and program development with other nursing leaders and internal/external partners to drive continuous improvement related to staff recruitment, training and engagement; quality and safety; patient experience; healthcare technology and management systems; and healthcare delivery.
Continuously seeks out ways to incorporate innovation in all aspects of the work.
The emergency departments are located at Christiana Care’s two hospitals (located in Newark and Wilmington, DE) and the free-standing emergency department in Middletown, Delaware and employ approximately 580 caregivers including 380 RN’s. Christiana Hospital is designated as the state’s only Level I trauma center for both adults and children. In 2018 Christiana Care provided nearly 200,000 ED visits and Christiana Care’s Emergency Department is ranked 21st in the US and 14th on the East Coast in number of ED visits. A not-for-profit teaching hospital affiliated with Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, Christiana Care offers EM, EM/FM and EM/IM residency programs.

RN license in the state of Delaware.
Master’s Degree in Nursing required.
Minimum five years recent and progressive managerial experience in an emergency room required.
Minimum 10 years nursing experience in emergency department required.
National board certification in Executive Nursing Leadership (Nurse Executive Advanced) preferred upon hire and/or required within one year of employment.
