Assistant/Assoc VP, Nursing/Patient Care Svcs, Assistant/Associate Chief Nursing Officer
The Vice President, Associate Chief Nurse, Pediatric / Medicine Patient Care Operations will be responsible for:
Leading pediatric / medicine nursing practice and patient care operations concentrated within a wide-range of associated subspecialties, including psychiatry.
Hiring and developing nursing, patient care, and administrative leaders to achieve exceptional work environments and patient care outcomes.
Contributing to care delivery innovation and operational effectiveness, while advancing nursing and interprofessional practice, research and inquiry nationally/internationally.
Guiding exceptional quality, safety and regulatory outcomes.
To qualify, you must have:
A minimum of ten or more years of progressive experience as a senior nurse leader in a complex, research-intensive, academic acute care setting.
A doctoral degree in nursing (PhD, DNSc, or DNP) or relevant health system related doctorate (DrPH) is strongly preferred.
Clinical specialty certification (CPN, CPHQ, and others) and nursing leadership certification (NE-BC/NEA-BC) is strongly preferred.
Candidates with demonstrated leadership capability in a comparable academic pediatric healthcare delivery setting without doctoral preparation, but who possess exceptional healthcare operations skills and similarly strong leadership capabilities may also be considered.
Candidates who hold all of the above qualifications in a similarly complex adult academic health care delivery setting may be considered.
Preparation as an APRN (FNP/PNP), and prior accountability for APRN professional practice, is beneficial.
Demonstrated financial and business skills, including the ability to persuasively construct business plans and conceptualize new clinical programs and associated capital and infrastructure requirements.
Demonstrated success leading quality, safety and regulatory readiness for a comparable scope of service.
An earned reputation as an empathetic and trusted leader who rapidly establishes rapport with others, builds effective teams, and capably leads complex change.
Demonstrated expertise related to the oversight of quality, safety, and regulatory requirements and ANCC Magnet standards.
The Vice President, Associate Chief Nurse reports to the Boston Children’s Hospital Senior Vice President, Patient Care Operations and Chief Nursing Officer. This role collaborates directly with nursing directors and clinical nurses in all Pediatric / Medical subspecialties including psychiatry (Hematology/Oncology out of scope), peer associate chief nurses and physician chiefs and discipline leaders throughout the organization. This role provides a unique opportunity for an experienced nurse leader to serve in a progressive, research-oriented and academically-focused pediatric specialty care environment.
