University of Vermont Medical Center, Vermont’s academic medical center and founding member of the University of Vermont Health Network, has an opening for a Director of Perioperative Services.
The Director of Perioperative Services has fiscal and operational responsibility and accountability for standards of care and service within Perioperative services including Pre-Op, PACU, PPR, Endoscopy, Operating Rooms and Procedure Rooms. He/she provides leadership for improving patient care, planning, staff performance, systems improvements, and teaching. The Director participates in the setting and implementation of the organization's goals, priorities, and strategies and works with other disciplines and groups to provide the highest quality of care across the health care system. The Director works at the Network systems level to standardize care and improve quality in perioperative services. He/she is responsible for the development of management staff within specified areas/units. Works collaboratively with the Department of Surgery and the Department of Anesthesia, as well as the Institute for Quality Assurance to continually evaluate, and improve care of the patients undergoing surgical procedures in the organization.

Five year experience at the Director level. Five year experience in Operative/Ambulatory Surgery Specialty.
State of Vermont Registered Nurse (RN) license required. The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter. Current internal RNs are strongly encouraged to pursue a BSN to support this initiative. Master’s in Nursing or related field preferred.
