POSITION SUMMARY:
Alliant Management Services is currently looking for a Chief Nursing Officer.
This position is responsible for supervision of staffing, scheduling, staff Performance Appraisals, Performance Standards, maintaining equipment, policy/procedures, budget, planning, innovation, compliance with regulatory standards, education and communication. Develops organization-wide patient care programs, policies and procedures to assess and evaluate nursing care. Develops, implements, reviews and revises Plan for Providing Nursing Care. Participates with the Management, Medical Staff, and other committees in the hospital decision-making structure and process. Implements and evaluates the effectiveness of the ongoing quality improvement program which assesses the quality of nursing care delivered. At the discretion of the CEO, will attend hospital board meetings to provide input and technical support to the CEO.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists with development and implementation of overall nursing care organization plan consistent with hospital policies and objectives.
- Assist with development, implementation and interpretation of nursing and patient care policies, objectives and standards for measurement and maintenance of quality nursing care.
- Assists in the master nursing service staffing plan.
- Organizes, directs and supervises daily nursing service to assure adequate hospital coverage and quality care.
- Recruits, interviews, hires and evaluates personnel to meet staffing needs, as needed.
- Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of the hospital quality process improvement program through evaluation of services rendered, quality improvement, audit of medical records, patient visits and counsel with hospital staff. Addresses patient safety in the Performance Improvement Plan.
- Maintains communications with medical and administrative staff through participation in regularly scheduled staff meetings and involvement in hospital committees.
- Assists in development of orientation and education programs to promote staff training and development.
- Recommends and participates in development of new patient care programs for expansions of nursing care services.
- Supervises and evaluates employees within the Nursing Administration organizational structure.
- Represents the hospital in health care programs and professional organizations to stimulate professional growth.
- Actively seeks ways to control costs without comprising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system and reports trends in occurrences to staff. This information is used to improve patient safety.
- Ensures staff is educated on established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of professional nursing principles and practices.
- Capable of analyzing and preparing complex records and reports.
- Ability to remain calm, to think and act quickly and logically in a crisis situation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related clinical field from an accredited college or university is required
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or Business preferred
- Knowledge of professional nursing principles and practices, and managerial skills typically acquired through 5+ years of management or supervisory experience
- Florida Registered Nurse license required
- Minimum of 5 years leadership and management experience in nursing and hospital operations.
- Most recent 3 of the last 5 years of leadership must be in a direct leadership role in a hospital setting or direct patient care environment.
- Knowledge of nursing management and program development principals and techniques and managerial skills typically acquired through 3-5 years of progressive nursing management experience required
