Directs, supervises, and coordinates the operations and activities of surgical services, including perioperative services.  There are about 185 FTEs.  UTMC has 13 operating rooms in the main hospital and 4 operating rooms in the minimally invasive surgical center.  There are 4 endoscopy suites.  We have an active Level II Trauma Program and perform about 100 trauma surgeries per year.  UTMC is on track for about 240 transplant surgeries this year.  Our overall surgical volume annually is approximately 7,500 cases.  The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for implementing, overseeing, and coordinating various program-related activities and/or projects assigned on an ongoing basis.
